The remainder of this post ought to be quite short since I already set my poker goals for 2009 in a previous post. I'll just restate and maybe tweak those a bit and then say I want to 'get in shape' and we'll be good to go.
[I]n 2009 I will play 100,000 hands of cash at 2/4 and above, $75k in online tournament volume and $75k in live tournament volume.
I had decided at the time that this would lead to expected* profits of $150k, which I broke down as $25k online cash, $50k online mtts, and $75k live mtts. In the weeks since this post, I have decided that I will have to revise downwards my ROI projections for online mtts, at least until my name is removed from Pokerstars' doom list. A revision to 50% ROI seems reasonable, but since I forgot to take into account any rakeback for my cash play the lost $12,500 should be made up from there. I also hope to make between $0 and $50k from alternative sources of income that I can't be bothered writing about in my blog, such as affiliate deals and investment income.
This all looks awfully optimistic against the backdrop of my 2008 results, but in my honest opinion I'm actually being quite conservative. If you're reading this and you're feeling a bit cynical and would like to bet against me making >$150k from my own poker play in 2009, I will take any bets** at even money. Seriously, get in touch, I could use the motivation.
Anyway, that's how for now. I'm hopefully gonna move house at some point this month so I may not get many posts in, apologies in advance. Then again, I've really not got much else to do so I'll probably still post every day, more apologies in advance.
Inabit sons.
*I.e. my profits in the form of mathematical expectation, so in the conventional sense I would 'expect' to make this amount or more only 50% of the time.
**Within reason. No $150k bets please.

"I also met tonnes of new people, special mention goes to David in Vegas who is an absolute legend, introduced us to all sorts of Vegas I never would have seen otherwise and 'looked after' $24,000 for me without running off with it, which was nice"
The best 50:50 we'll ever win in our life; giving $24k to a virtual stranger and him giving it back. What a lad!
Best of luck with your goals for 2009.
Okay, I bet you a pint of AieuYingerbrau in the Swan that you don't make that much money.
There's your incentive.
Good luck mate.
(I actually think you will FWIW, I just wanna buy you a pint.)
