For Ptevey

Just a quick post as Ptevey tells me he needs something to read on the bus to work. I've not played a huge amount since my last post, although before the 48hr challenge this amount of hands would have constituted a month's worth of play. I started mixing in some carefully selected $2/$4 tables with my normal grind in my last session, I continued breaking even at 1/2 for another 1500 hands or so, then won $2k in about 300 hands, most of it at $2/$4, to finally wrap up my bet with Paul and claim that sweet $100. He keeps bleating about how he didn't have much time to commit to the bet and that he would have won if he had as much time as me. I think he's forgetting that whilst winning the bet I also found time for a week in London at the GUKPT, about 20hrs table time in 3 nights at the Norwegian championships in DTD, a trip to the UKSPC, the DTD monthly deepstack and, last but not least, a weekend cookery course in Devon. So 'not enough time' is a pretty flimsy excuse I reckon.

I've been thinking about the BlackBeltPoker grading some more, and I reckon I could play over 100k hands if I really focus on 6max cash. However, I don't really know what this would demonstrate to the judges (for want of a better word) except my ability to grind, and I don't think that this alone will set me apart enough. I think I'll use the opportunity of weekly coaching sessions and lower stakes to learn omaha and heads up play. I'm gambling on my ability to learn a new game in a month, holdem cash did take me 4 or 5 years after all (and I'm still learning bla bla bla). Hopefully I won't balls it up completely and ruin my chances of a belt, but that's a risk I'm willing to take. Anyway I think today the list of 50 chosen ones will be released so fingers crossed I'll be on it and all this thinking won't just be wasted entropy.

Next week: GUKPT Manchester. I've sold 20% already and I'm probably only gonna sell 40% total so get in there quick if you're interested. £260 for the remaining 20%.

Inabit sons,

Keys

PS. Ptevey, I told Nathan to blog for you as well, in case the bus is slow.

I came across this blog of a fellow PKR player who played against you in the £300 DTD event. He rates you very high. If you want to boost your confidence and do something good for your soul.
